Become a Foster & Save Lives

Fostering: A Life-Changing Experience
At Angie’s Dog House, fostering is more than just a temporary arrangement; it’s a life-changing experience for both you and the animals in your care. By opening your home to a dog or cat from one of the highest-kill shelters in the country, you’re giving them a second chance at life. We rescue animals primarily from high-risk shelters in Alabama, Texas and Louisiana, and also from other at-risk situations. Our biggest need for fosters is anywhere in Michigan.  Every animal we bring into our program is carefully evaluated to ensure they’re a good fit for fostering. Our dogs will be fully-vetted when they arrive. Our commitment to you is to match you with a pet that suits your household, ensuring a smooth and supportive fostering experience.

Full Support for Fosters
As a foster, you’ll receive all the support and resources you need, from fully-vetted animals to helpful supplies. Each foster dog arrives with essential items like food, medications, flea and tick prevention and a crate, if needed. Cats come with similar items, including food, litter and a scratching post. During the first days, we recommend a quiet space for your foster to decompress after their journey. Fosters are asked to provide love, patience and care while helping your new pet adjust to their temporary home. We’re here to support you throughout the process, ensuring that your fostering experience is both rewarding and stress-free.

The Impact of Fostering
Fostering not only helps these animals, but it also helps you grow in your experience and understanding of what it means to care for a pet. Whether you’re fostering a dog or a cat, you’re playing a critical role in their journey to a forever home. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of animals in need.

What Our Fosters Say

Our fosters are the heart of our rescue, and their experiences speak volumes about the impact of giving animals a second chance. Here’s what some of our dedicated fosters have to say about the joy, challenges and rewards of opening their homes to animals in need. Their stories highlight the incredible bond that forms between foster pets and their caregivers, and how, together, we help create brighter futures for these furry friends.

Angie’s Dog House has been a fantastic group to work with. Angie cares about every animal that comes through her rescue, no matter the size or breed. I was very happy when she and Andrea decided to open a Michigan chapter. I was the first foster mom in Michigan for Angie’s Dog House. I have witnessed Angie and Andrea’s tears when they aren’t able to save an animal, and I have witnessed the joy when they can. Luckily, the joy almost always outweighs the tears.

Michigan Foster

Fostering allowed me to see the incredible transformation these dogs go through – from fearful and unsure to confident and ready for their forever homes. Watching my foster dogs grow, learn and thrive was nothing short of amazing. The sense of fulfillment I got from being part of such a life-changing journey is something I’ll never forget. I am so grateful to Angie’s Dog House for providing me with this opportunity and for their unwavering commitment to saving lives. If you’re considering fostering, I highly recommend reaching out to them. It’s an experience you won’t regret, and you’ll be helping to make a difference in a dog’s life!
